I agreed to mix Demi's recording of the audio book.

Copyright issues

Demi out that as long as they are Mother Goose nursery rhymes they have no copyright, as it is part of the 'Public domain'. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Old MacDonald had a Farm are from the Mother Goose collection. Little Red Riding Hood was part of the Grimm fairy tales but it was then sold the Mother Goose collection. This means that there are no copyright regulations towards any of the stories or songs we are recording. I found these answers on Wikimedia and checked on the Mother Goose.

Meeting 1

The first deadline was Emlyns on the 20th January 2015 and he has to bring in the red riding hood book. The next deadline is on the 21th January 2015 and I have to read and learn Little Red Riding Hood ready for the audio book to be recorded in next weeks lesson. We decided carefully who done each part. We agreed I would mix the audio book, and Demi would record it as she has one of the softer voices of the group and It will be better aimed at the audience if she read it. I offered to record it in next weeks lesson. The deadline for me to record Demi is the 28th January 2015. The next job is for Abbie to print out the Old Mcdonald song lyrics for the year 8 choir this needs to be done 20/1/15.

Meeting 2
On the 21st January 2015 I recorded Demi.  By the 29/1/15 my audio book should be mixed and edited. Abbie has to record the choir on the 3/2/15 and mix the track by the 5/2/15. These are jobs they have volunteered to do. The length of rehearsal time the Choir and Demi had to rehearse is 24 hours for Demi to learn the book and 1 week for the choir to learn the lyrics and tune. Kieras next job was to look up any copyright issues and inform our group, the deadline for this is the 28/1/15. Abbie did not meet her deadline to have the lyrics printed and ready for the choir by the 20/1/15. So this deadline was rescheduled for Dan and Abbie have them printed and given the Mrs Gower by the 28/1/15.

Meeting 3
On the 4th February all the recordings are in mid-production. The changes we made to these tracks and the audio book was that the audio book was recorded twice and Demi researched about how long the average audio book should last and listened to other audio books on youtube in advance before choosing the final recording. Also both nursery rhymes took 2 drafts before we chose and mixed each track. All of our aims in the group were achieved so no deadlines were changed. To complete Old McDonald we added a different sound sample for each animal e.g oink for a pig and moo for a cow, this had a positive effect and is suitable for our audience. Each member of the group was given a sound sample of each animal to bring in so its less time consuming for when we mixed. Dan had the duck and pig, Emlyn had a chicken and a twinkle sound, Cain had a donkey and Keira had the cow. Everyone met the deadline and brought these in on time and ready to add to the tracks.

Meeting 4
In this brief meeting we discussed new  jobs for each member in the group, these are to be completed independently.

evaluation

I really liked Old Macdonald track, This is because we got some good audio samples of different animals. I think this worked out well because we planned it in a meeting. Abbie came up with the creative idea to add in the samples, and we gave her a long deadline to ensure she ahd plenty of time to make a good mix. She then delegated everyone a different animal to ensure we had a range of samples. This made it sound really professional.

Our weakness was that we could have added more interest and samples into Old Macdonald. However, we couldn't do that because there wasn't enough people in the group to get more samples int he time we had allowed.

I also really liked 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'. This was because the choir sang it really well, in time and in tune. I think they managed to do this well because we gave them lots of time in their deadlines, and Abbie was able to give them a track and lyrics to practice with. She also talked to Mr Gower, the choir leader, a couple of weeks before hand, in order for them to be well prepared for the recording.

I think Little Red Riding Hood could have been improved, as Demi didn't have very much time to practice her lines and reading it through. Therefore we needed more time, and it didn't sound as finished as the others.
