BASIC SKILLS AUDIT
Before I started this course, I could sing but I wasn't very confident. I wouldn't perform in front of large crowds. I did perform once in Year 9 in front of my class, but I was really quiet and wouldn't stand at the front, and wouldn't face towards the audience. I didn't have any singing lessons or any other music lessons except for classroom music lessons with the rest of my form.
Short-term SMART target: By the end of this term I would like to be more confident by performing in front of my BTEC Music class.
Long-term SMART target: By the end of next year I would like to be more confident in my singing by competing in House Music.

In the last few lessons me and Charlotte Copeland have been rehearsing in the soundproof room. We have been rehearsing the song Titanium (acoustic version). We are now getting to the point of being ready to record!
This is mine and Charlotte Copeland's recording of Titanium! We recorded it a few weeks ago, at the moment me and Charlotte are working on the harmonies in the song Titanium! We are mainly focusing on the harmonies of the acoustic version. In this recording at this stage we do not have to add in the harmonies.

My Titanim review, what me and charlotte could improve on for next time and what we have done well on.
What I think me and Charlotte could improve on is our breath control, we need to listen to the song and see if we can add in some more breath breaks. I also think we should have spent more time rehearsing as we rushed into the recording. This meant that at times the intonation and accuracy of our voices go out of tune in some really high notes throughout the song.
The things I thought me and Charlotte done well on was our rhythm and timing, we really thought about our timing. We are in time with the song and in time with each other, and we were accurate to the original recording. I also thought our tuning together was okay considering we couldn't fit the harmony in on time. That's why we shouldn't have rushed into recording. We will record our harmonies on a separate recording.

A few weeks ago me and Charlotte Copeland recorded our song that we have been rehearsing for ages "Titanium" acoustic version we now listen to the recording and we are working out the harmonies of the song.

Last lesson me and Charlotte Copeland finished working on our harmonies, the recording is just below. I feel we were successful with our recording of this, although we could have worked on putting this together with the song.
We are now going to work on a new song, we are both going to try a Taylor Swift song! we have figured because it is a duet song we can both work round the song quite quickly, it works out easy because Charlotte prefers to sing lower than me.

The last lesson Charlotte wasn't in so I decided to look up good songs with good harmony, there where a few with easy harmonies and ones with complicated harmonies, some songs were quite high and songs that were quite low. I found it hard to decide on a song as Charlotte wasn't there to show me her range.

For the last few lessons me and Charlotte have been working with the Year 8 singers. We have been teaching them the harmonies to "Three Little Birds". it was quite hard because I had never sung "Three Little Birds" before, but it was quite easy to work out the harmonies to suit the girls voices.

In our singing lesson we have been working on the harmonies, to A Thousand Years soon we are going to be recording it.
4/12/13
last week me and Charlotte Copeland worked on a song called "A Thousand Years".

In mine and Charlottes singing lessons with Mrs Colligan in our last lessons before we broke up for Christmas we sung some Christmas songs we done some really high song called "Walking In The Air" and we done some really low songs.
Good start.

ReplyDeleteLiteracy focus: Use capital letters for people's names and for the beginning of each sentence.
Skill focus: You need to record your Titanium song with harmonies now that it is completed.
Good, well done. Write a review of your second performance.
